At Kramer Forest Products we are a unique company — a more hands-on company. We don't have a supplier on the other end of the phone like the lumber yards or big box stores do. We select our timbers on location in the the finest forests of North America and peel, saw, and shape our timber products right on site in our beautiful northern Wisconsin facility.
Hand Selected Forest Products for Your Building Project
We find our inventory at the start where it's cut off the stump. Our in-depth knowledge of forestry and wood products helps us create only the finest timbers. For example, our white pine inventory is only harvested in the winter months so the percent of sap is down.
After the tree has been harvested, the materials are transferred to our yard and every tree is looked at individually to maximize the amount of material we can use. After they are sawed to the desired length, it's off to the saw mill where the logs will be cut into timbers, mantels, or bar tops.
Like Fine Wine, Our Timber Products Are "Aged" to Perfection
Because we are focused on offering only the best log and timber products, we take the time to age and dry our logs to perfection.
After sawing is complete, all new material is stickered and stacked outside for up to six months. After that, all the material is then moved and re-stacked into one of our drying sheds and the end of each item is marked with the year of harvest. The material will stay in one of these sheds for a period of time ranging for up to four years depending on the size.
Air-drying timber products is a time-consuming, labor-intensive process that requires the knowledge of highly trained timber artisans who know how to achieve optimal outcomes. There are easier ways to create log timbers, but these sacrifice quality for quantity. We will never make that compromise at Kramer Forest Products.
